Beach Cleanup

Green Teens at Martin Middle School learned about the importance of cleaning up litter by participating in KAB's Clean Sweep 2008 to cleanup their campus and then headed down to Corpus Christi just a few weeks later to cleanup the beach.

Fieldtrip Fun
Martin Middle School Green Teens take their knowledge on the go! First stop…Ecology Action where teens take their recyclables collected from their school recycling campaign to be recycled. After recycling their own materials they volunteered to bale cardboard trimming the 10 foot stack of cardboard. Next stop… The Great Outdoors Nursery.  Teens completed a scavenger hunt sheet as they explored the nursery to discover what annuals are, seeds fit for the season, different kinds of soil, and what was growing in the nursery.

Boggy Creek Cleaners
At Kealing Middle School Green Teens have been learning about their watershed and taking weekly hikes down to Boggy Creek to explore the watershed they live in. Appalled by the trash and erosion at Boggy Creek students set out on a restoration plan including a cleanup of the creek and a native planting along its banks. Check out our recent trip to Town Lake where we collected bugs living in the water to determine the health of a pond.

Green Teens present their extensive knowledge about Boggy Creek, pollution, prevention and water quality at a familiy night in December.
