The Blunn Creek Partnership is working on ecological restoration of the 38-acre Blunn Creek Nature Preserve. Volunteers are welcome to join one of the monthly workdays on the 1st Saturday of every month. Workdays will consist of cutting ligustrum and stacking it in a brush pile for chipping. Groups are welcome!

Wear closed-toe shoes, long pants and a long sleeved shirt, and bring a water bottle and gloves. Parking is available along 1200 St Edwards Dr. Please meet promptly at 8:30am as it is a short hike to the working location.

Join South East Austin Rails and Greenways Allianace as they work to clean up the Country Club Creek Greenbelt and restore it to a beautiful healthy ecosystem for the surrounding wildlife and its trail visitors. Volunteers will assist with removing bulky items such as mattresses, car parts, and other misc. items along with common trash articles such as beer bottles, soda cans, Styrofoam cups, and more. Please be sure to wear long sleeve pants and closed toed shoes as there will be poison ivy and no one wants to spend the weekend with it! Volunteers should also bring a FULL bottle of water...

Take a trip to Travis Audubon’s Blair Woods Sanctuary for a morning of family nature exploration! The theme for November 4th is native plants and trees! Kids will be able to learn about the native and non-native plants at Blair Woods and participate in plant-related activities. This event is free and open to the public. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is recommend that you wear closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and a FULL bottle of water to stay hydrated! Please remember to pack out what you pack in!

The Texas Book Festival is a non-profit organization established by Laura Bush, a former librarian and an ardent advocate of literacy. Along with Mary Margaret Farabee, founding co-chair, Mrs. Bush created a task force to plan a book festival to honor Texas authors, promote the joys of reading and serve to benefit the state's public libraries. The first Festival took place at the Capitol in November 1996.
