KAB's 23RD ANNUAL CITYWIDE CLEANUP WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! 

MORE THAN 7,000 PEOPLE SIGNED UP TO VOLUNTEER AT 115 SITES AROUND AUSTIN!

APPROX.  30 TONS OF TRASH WAS REMOVED FROM AUSTIN'S PUBLIC SPACES.

WHAT IS CLEAN SWEEP?

Clean Sweep is KAB's annual citywide cleanup that takes place all over Austin. Every volunteer gets a free event t-shirt and is invited to the Volunteer Party & Environmental Fair at Waterloo Park after the cleanup, which includes: free lunch, live music, kid’s environmental activities, green art, a dance performance, door prizes and more!

CLEANUP RESULTS

• 7,315 volunteers registered to participate in more than 115 cleanup locations throughout Austin.
• Volunteers worked roughly 14,630 hours to remove tons of trash from littering Austin.
• We estimate the value for just the volunteer time to be $266,266.00.
• 30.5 TONS of trash was collected during Clean Sweep (that's 60,946 lbs).

In addition to the dollar savings, the valuable lessons about the meaning of community service, the virtue of personal responsibility and the importance of litter prevention are immeasurable!

• Live music by La Tampiquena and Troublesome Trio
• Kid’s environmental activities and exhibits
• Interactive art by Austin Green Art
• Dance performances by Ariel Dance Theatre
• Bag Exchange - encouraged volunteers to bring 5 plastic bags for recycling in exchange for a free reusable bag.

RAFFLE WINNER

As part of Clean Sweep, KAB raffled TWO (2) three-day passes to the 2008 ACL Music Festival. Generously donated by C3. Congratulations to the winner of the ACL tickets, JP Rios.
