2007 HIGHLIGHTS

Fun with Freescale

June 14th, 59 interns from Freescale Semiconductor volunteered to enhance Austin’s natural beauty at the West Zilker Preserve.  In just three hours this large group of volunteers: trimmed trails, removed rotten railings, picked up litter, mulched the overlook, began deconstruction of an unsafe structure, made a native plant bed, put a roof on a greenhouse, cut cedar logs for a fence, and painted picnic tables.

Dell in a Downpour

June 23rd, 49 Dell Interns and community volunteers worked in the summer rain to improve Stephenson Nature Preserve in South Austin.  Volunteers mulched trails, filled eroded areas with rocks, and created a channel to divert water into a pond restoration area.

Rams Kick-start their school year
August 31st, a bus full of Huston-Tillotson University first year students and staff unloaded at Stephenson Nature Preserve.  Volunteers spent the morning working together to complete the channel started by Dell volunteers on June 23rd.   They also mulched nature trails and got to experience a nature preserve that none of the volunteers had visited before.
