Keep Austin Beautiful, a Charity Partner for PGA World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play

ROUND ROCK, Texas, Jan. 27, 2016 – Dell and the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play today announced that Austin-based charities Austin Parks Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area, The First Tee of Greater Austin, Helping Hand Home for Children and Keep Austin Beautiful will be the local charity beneficiaries from the tournament’s overall charitable contributions to be distributed following the 2016 event. The world’s best golfers will be on display at Austin Country Club for the Dell Match Play on March 23-27, 2016.

The top 64 players in the Official World Golf Ranking will come to Austin in nearly two months as the best players from around the globe square off in a rare match-play format. The Dell Match Play field annually consists of the very best players from around the world from all Tours. It is a given that fans attending the Dell Match Play will see players like Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott in the field.

Dell is dedicated to using the charitable proceeds from the tournament to encourage improved health, wellness, resiliency and academic achievement that will have a measurable and lasting impact on the community’s youth.

“Dell believes that technology has always been about enabling human potential—enabling people to grow and thrive,” said Trisa Thompson, vice president of Corporate Responsibility, Dell. “Developing that potential in future generations is why we believe in and support Youth Learning as the core of our corporate giving strategy.

“By bringing the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play to Austin, we will build on the strength of Dell’s Youth Learning Initiative to expand access to outdoor activities that support youth development and education in underserved communities. Research shows that kids who are active are healthier and do better in school.”

The Dell Match Play is one in a series of four World Golf Championships events held each season on the PGA TOUR. Since 1999, these four events have combined to generate more than $50 million in charity. In addition to supporting The First Tee on a national level, the Dell Match Play will generate funds for the named Austin charities. “The Austin area has shown great support for the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play from day one,” said Tournament Director Jordan Uppleger. “We are thrilled to have such wonderful community organizations to partner with as we approach the tournament. Making a positive impact in communities where PGA TOUR tournaments are held and players live has always been an essential element of the TOUR’s charitable mission.”

Dell has also been a long time supporter of Keep Austin Beautiful. “We treasure our long-term relationship with Dell and are thrilled to be a part of the World Golf Championships–Dell Match Play coming to Austin this year,” said Keep Austin Beautiful Executive Director, Rodney Ahart. “Nurturing environmental consciousness among young people, especially in underserved communities, is integral to our mission, and Dell’s support has been critical to our work. We look forward to amplifying our efforts thanks to Dell bringing this incredible tournament to our hometown.”
