Board Member Spotlight: Lindsey

Our volunteers, educators, and board members are vital to the success of Keep Austin Beautiful. We would not be celebrating our 35th anniversary without them! Learn more about our Board Member, Lindsey, below.

Name: Lindsey Walther

Title/Company: Sr. Digital Marketing Manager, C3 Presents

Board position: Board Member

Years on the Board: 1 (it’s my first year)

What influenced you to join the Keep Austin Beautiful Board?

I’m a native Austinite and my favorite thing about living here is our incredible green spaces. There are an endless amount of parks, trails and waterways and I love exploring them when I’m feeling stressed or stir-crazy. I wanted to give back to my community and give my time to a cause I’m passionate about – the environment!

What excites you the most about Keep Austin Beautiful’s mission?

I love that Keep Austin Beautiful combines local clean-ups with education. The skills kids are learning through our Generation Zero program are things I wish I had learned at an earlier age: how to compost, recycle, plant things, etc.

Why do you think Keep Austin Beautiful’s work is important?

Now more than ever we’ve got to take care of Austin’s environment – more people are spending time outside, and more people are (always) moving here. It’s devastating to see some of my favorite small businesses and live music + comedy venues closing as a result of COVID-19, because for me, many of these places have contributed to Austin’s cultural identity. So I’m going to do what I can to focus on maintaining another part of our city’s identity – our green spaces.

What is your hope for Keep Austin Beautiful’s future?

Keep Austin Beautiful has made incredible contributions to Austin over the past 35 years, and I hope that this organization has an even greater impact over the next 35.
