Adopt-a-Creek group Friends of Copperfield Nature Trails visited The Great Outdoors with their donation credit from Keep Austin Beautiful in hand. The group explored the nursery, received some great advice from the employees, and left well stocked to work on their creek. Our partnership with The Great Outdoors helps to expand resources available for school projects and volunteer groups. From creek beds to beautified public spaces plants and supplies from The Great Outdoors will be making their way across town to continue to improve Austin’s important ecological areas.
Below are some of the highlights from their nursery adventure as captured by volunteer (and plant enthusiast) Deana Dossey:
The adventure begins!
Michael M. happy as they picked out cool plants – so hard to choose!
The folks at Great Outdoors are super friendly and so knowledgeable
Bounty of native plants, including a native pipevine, host plant to the pipevine swallowtail butterfly, hooray for pollinators!
Friendly Great Outdoors employee happy to help us spend our gift certificate!
Volunteer Molly digging a hole for the new plants along the trail!
New home on the Copperfield Nature Trail for our blackfoot daisy, kate’s dwarf ruelia, shrimp plant, and pigeon berry. Other plants will line the nearby trail creek crossing.
