About the kits
What are Generation Zero Waste Activity Kits?
Our Generation Zero Waste Activity Kits are a great add-on for sustainability lessons, perfect for use with a substitute teacher, and work well with non-traditional learning and youth groups.
These kits include lesson plans and materials for an activity, and one kit has enough materials for approximately 30 youth. Once you request an Activity Kit, our educators will coordinate a time for you to pick them up from the Keep Austin Beautiful office.
After your event, please return the Activity Kits and let us know how it went. Please fill out our Report Form and send your photos to our education team to share your success!
More about our Activity Kits
Recycle Relay
Exploring single-stream recycling and discovering where trash ends up by participating in a race to sort various materials between trash and recycling.
Compost critters
Learning how worms turn soil into food through vermicomposting. You may check out a worm bin with your kit, or opt to draw a “super worm” as an alternate activity.
litter lifeline
Exploring the most common types of litter, considering the question of where litter comes from, and learning how long it takes for litter to decompose.
waste audit
Auditing waste to learn about types, amounts, and areas for growth. Students are tasked with auditing several bags of waste, recording the results, and comparing samples to national data.
