Keep Austin Beautiful inspires and educates all Austinites to volunteer together, beautify green spaces, clean waterways, and reduce waste every day.
We are extremely excited to be celebrating our 35th anniversary this year. Austin has become one of the most amazing and dynamic cities in the nation and Keep Austin Beautiful is proud and honored to have been of part of its development. We are actively working to make Austin the cleanest and most beautiful city by preserving what makes this city a special place to live: access to waterways and green spaces.
Our volunteers are the true foundation of our organization. They consistently show up to remove litter, plant native trees and flora, restore riparian habitats, and coordinate landscaping and beautification projects across the city all year long.
What keeps us going, decade after decade?
We believe when people learn about the impact of their actions on the environment, they will reduce their waste. There is no better way to learn about our impact on the environment than seeing it first-hand. Last year our volunteers removed 78,000 pounds of trash and diverted 11,000 pounds of recycling from the landfill.
We believe children and teens who experience the outdoors and learn about reducing waste will become stewards of Austin green spaces and waterways.
Last year alone we educated 11,000 students at 111 schools across the city, giving students hands-on experiences with the natural environment around them through classroom and service-learning projects.
We believe people who volunteer together outdoors are more connected to nature and each other.
Our volunteers, whose ages range from 8-80 years old, come from all over the city. Our projects bring together students, community groups, business leaders, and families on projects throughout the year, creating a sense of connectedness and shared responsibility for our city.
We believe all Austinites have a right to clean, safe, and beautiful green spaces and waterways.
We are so lucky to have incredible green spaces and waterways available in our city. These amenities truly make Austin a unique place to live and every citizen should be able to enjoy them. With access to resources, tools, and support, volunteers completed 700+ community improvement projects in every corner of the city, making a positive and lasting impact.
You’ve supported us throughout the first 35 years. Help us make the next 35 even better.
