beautification resources

Keep Austin Beautiful is here to assist you in your neighborhood enhancement projects. Thanks to partnerships with local businesses and organizations, we have a variety of resources available.

Supplies are limited and available for groups participating in Keep Austin Beautiful school or community programming. Requests from groups not participating in Keep Austin Beautiful programs are prioritized according to geographic area, community engagement, and the sustainability of the project. Resources are only available for community projects taking place on public space, not for individual/private projects.

Please be prepared to provide the following details for all requests: contact, contact email, contact phone number, group name, project location, project date, specific product needs (# of cubic yards, type of species), number of volunteers, and number of volunteer hours anticipated. We also request you submit photos, highlights from your completed project, and a social media post tagging Keep Austin Beautiful with the hashtag #beautifyaustin (if applicable) to assist in recognizing our contribution and partners.

Please submit all requests via the REQUEST SUPPLIES button above.

Bulk Item Collection – Sometimes, before we can green, we need to clean. Dumpsters and certificates for free landfill drop-off are available to help dispose of bulk items from large-scale cleanups and brownfields. Two weeks notice required for dumpster requests.

Compost, Soil, and Mulch – Compost, mulch, and soil are available by the cubic yard. No bagged product available. Visit the Organics by Gosh and the Texas Disposal System websites for a full list of products. After measuring your work/planting space, convert the measurement from cubic feet into cubic yards. A cubic yard of material is enough to fill the bed of a standard pickup truck. One delivery truck can accommodate up to 12 cubic yards of compost or soil, or 15 cubic yards of mulch. A minimum of two weeks notice is required for all compost, soil, and mulch requests. Keep Austin Beautiful typically awards 1-12 yards of product per group. Requests beyond 12 yards will be allocated based on need and availability.

Plants – Time to plant with native plants and trees! Keep Austin Beautiful receives biannual donations of 4-inch natives from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and annual plant donations from The Great Outdoors. Tell us about your project so we can add your needs to our plant list. When considering plants and landscaping options, check out the City of Austin’s Grow Green resources.

Tools – Keep Austin Beautiful’s Tool Shack, tool lending library, lends tools at no cost to assist in the completion of community service projects. A minimum of two weeks notice is required for all tool requests.

Volunteer Recruitment – Tap into our extensive volunteer community by sending us details about your event to be included on our online calendar and Volunteer eNews, and for us to recruit volunteers on your behalf.

Guidance – Don’t forget we are here to help you in your beautification efforts. We are happy to answer your questions!

Support – While beautifying your home, school, community, or business, consider purchasing soil, compost, or mulch from Organics “By Gosh.” Mention Keep Austin Beautiful and Organics “By Gosh” will contribute a percentage of their sales to Keep Austin Beautiful.

Yard Signs – Want to share your love for keeping Austin beautiful from your front yard or your project location? You can request one of the three signs shown in the images below. We have a limited supply so please email your requests directly to Keith.
