“Dell believes that technology has always been about enabling human potential—enabling people to grow and thrive,” said Trisa Thompson, vice president of Corporate Responsibility, Dell. “Developing that potential in future generations is why we believe in and support Youth Learning as the core of our corporate giving strategy.
“By bringing the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play to Austin, we will build on the strength of Dell’s Youth Learning Initiative to expand access to outdoor activities that support youth development and education in underserved communities. Research shows that kids who are active are healthier and do better in school.”
The Dell Match Play is one in a series of four World Golf Championships events held each season on the PGA TOUR. Since 1999, these four events have combined to generate more than $50 million in charity. In addition to supporting The First Tee on a national level, the Dell Match Play will generate funds for the named Austin charities. “The Austin area has shown great support for the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play from day one,” said Tournament Director Jordan Uppleger. “We are thrilled to have such wonderful community organizations to partner with as we approach the tournament. Making a positive impact in communities where PGA TOUR tournaments are held and players live has always been an essential element of the TOUR’s charitable mission.”
Dell has also been a long time supporter of Keep Austin Beautiful. “We treasure our long-term relationship with Dell and are thrilled to be a part of the World Golf Championships–Dell Match Play coming to Austin this year,” said Keep Austin Beautiful Executive Director, Rodney Ahart. “Nurturing environmental consciousness among young people, especially in underserved communities, is integral to our mission, and Dell’s support has been critical to our work.
