Blair Woods Family Nature Days: Water

Take a trip to Travis Audubon’s Blair Woods Sanctuary for a morning of family nature exploration! The theme for October 21 will be Water! Kids will be able to explore the trails, make seedballs, learn about watersheds, investigate aquatic insects, and participate in activities led by Texas Parks and Wildlife. This event is free and open to the public. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is recommend that you wear closed-toe shoes, bring sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and water! Please remember to pack out what you pack in!

Kids will be able to explore the trails, participate in migration-related activities, and learn about bats up close with the Austin Bat Rescue. This event is free and open to the public. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is recommend that you wear closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, and FULL bottles of water to stay hydrated! Please remember to pack out what you pack in!

Workday at Blunn Creek Nature Preserve

The Blunn Creek Partnership is working on ecological restoration of the 38-acre Blunn Creek Nature Preserve. Volunteers are welcome to join one of the monthly workdays on the 1st Saturday of every month. Workdays will consist of cutting ligustrum and stacking it in a brush pile for chipping. Groups are welcome!

Wear closed-toe shoes, long pants and a long sleeved shirt, and bring a water bottle and gloves. Parking is available along 1200 St Edwards Dr. Please meet promptly at 8:30am as it is a short hike to the working location.

SEATAG Country Club Creek Greenbelt Cleanup

Join South East Austin Rails and Greenways Allianace as they work to clean up the Country Club Creek Greenbelt and restore it to a beautiful healthy ecosystem for the surrounding wildlife and its trail visitors. Volunteers will assist with removing bulky items such as mattresses, car parts, and other misc. items along with common trash articles such as beer bottles, soda cans, Styrofoam cups, and more. Keep Austin Beautiful’s Highway 360 Cleanup

Join Keep Austin Beautiful and fellow volunteers for a cleanup of Highway 360. While holiday decorations on the juniper trees might be a fun tradition, taking them down is important to help maintain water quality, reduce litter, and keep critters from eating not-so-healthy artificial snacks. Registration for the event will open December 6, 2017. (Bad weather back-up day will be January 13, 2018)

Keep Austin Beautiful's Clean Lady Bird Lake

Clean Lady Bird Lake is a large-scale initiative to remove litter from Lady Bird Lake led by Keep Austin Beautiful and the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department. With cleanups sites at 25 locations around the lake, volunteers remove debris from the shoreline and in the water using watercrafts on and along Lady Bird Lake. Registration opens January 10, 2018.
